Prepare to pay a commission structure for sports goods sales teams. What is the best way to do this?
We sell hockey, baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball and more. We currently have retail stores and online sites, but we want the sales force to go after teams. What would be the best way to manage this? % Straight will not succeed, because the margin is different for each item. Any ideas
You can categorize the items according to the margin and the average percentage for each group. Say you have a category with a margin of 25-35%. You can pay a commission of say 5% on products in that category. Margin product sales higher can be given a higher commission. You must set your computer system to pay a certain percentage on certain categories. This system should also be established to recognize when discounts are given commission and reduce the debt accordingly. In assigned based on the system, you want to make sure that the salesperson will be paid only if they collect on an invoice. So not only will they be paid on commission, but also in the collection. This is if you sell goods on credit. You do not want to run the risk of paying commissions on credit jammed. My company uses this system and has been working fine. We are using ACCPAC software.
