Mission Freeze
If the Phoenix Mission finds frozen bacteria in the ancient ice of the Red Planet?
What do you think would happen?
People will continue their lives as nothing has happened.
People will ask themselves if these bateria imply that intelligent creatures may exist in other planets?
According to the Bible God made Man to His image and similarity, so... will creatures on other planets look like Earthly men and women?
Most will continue life as if nothing happened. That there is bacteria on another planet does not change the things that are important in the daily life to survive.
Some will start to consider the possibility of life on other planets even though they've never done that before.
Those that already think that there is life on other planets will be trilled to finally have some proof.
The debate will of course be about what bacteria actually proves. Yes, it's life but can it be used as proof of the possibility of intelligent life.
As for the bible... I think there is enough "evidence" in the bible that god only created one set of humans and that there were already other humans in the world. (Cain took a wife that was not created by god and so on...) Considering that there is a possibility that there are humanoid lifeforms elsewhere.
But, I think that possibility is close to nothing. Other lifeforms would have evolved to fit the environment that they live in. The things that we have to have to survive might not be the things that they need. It's more realistic to think that they will not look anything like humans at all.
